How to Use Wordpress Marketing to Your Advantage

A lot of people are marketing online nowadays and there are tons of different options when choosing a platform for promoting your products or services.

A really effective strategy that I have found which has made me thousands and thousands of dollars is called WordPress Marketing.

If you are not familiar with wordpress it is a FREE blog service that allows you to create your own website (blog) for free! You can your own domain name (wordpress.com/nameofyourblog) and anybody with an internet connection can view your page by visiting that web address.

Now, you are online! You can promote products as an affiliate OR you can promote your own products or services from there too. Another popular thing people do when marketing online using a wordpress blog, is to write about something that is very popular at the moment (or always) and get traffic to your site that way. Then, you can place ads on your site for Google or Yahoo (also FREE) and YOU GET PAID anytime someone just clicks on one of the ads on your site!

This is a very popular way of making money online.

What else is WordPress Marketing good for?

Yet another awesome technique for making money with your blog is to build your opt-in list of email subscribers by giving away something of value for FREE right from your blog, in exchange for the email address of your reader. It may in form of e-Books, e-Courses, software or a short report. You would not believe that most people will exchange their email address with these free stuffs. If it is useful for them, they will be your loyalty customer in the future easily.

You can sign up for an auto-responder service for less than $20 a month and easily set up the email address capture form where the customer must enter their first name and email address in order to receive the free download (a short, informative report that you write on the same topic as your blog or promotion).

If you do not want to pay for monthly cost, you can try some free auto-responder services. But it would be a better idea to invest on the paid auto-responder service as it will provides a much more stability and durability.

Once you harvest their email addresses you can promote (legally!) products and/or services to them via email and then you can make some serious money!

If you want to make more money, just create your own product and promote them. If you do not want to create your own product, you may finding some affiliate products to promote. That is Wordpress marketing in a nutshell!

Spam Comments and Wordpress

If you own a Wordpress blog, you might have already come across comment spam. Comment spam can become a very big headache if you run multiple blogs. However, there are solutions to tackle this problem. Wordpress comes with some inbuilt mechanisms to prevent spam and then, there are some external plugins that can completely prevent your blog from receiving spam comments.

Comment spam is very much similar to e-mail spam in motives. While e-mail spam tries to achieve advertising and exposure, comment spam tries to create backlinks. As you may be aware, most of the major search engines emphasize backlinks while ranking webpages. And this is what spammers are after.

To tackle the problem of comment spam, Wordpress adds the no-follow tag to links added via the comment box. This means that search engines won’t value the links. However, this hasn’t completely eradicated the problem. Spammers are still spamming blogs, may be, with the intention of getting direct visitors.

Here are some techniques to prevent comment spam:

Akismet: Wordpress comes installed with a plugin called Akismet that recognizes spam comments and separates them from the others. To use Akismet, you will have to activate it and then enter your API key. You will have to register your email with Wordpress to get your API key. Akismet is very accurate in recognizing spam comments.

Spamkarma: Spamkarma is a plugin to prevent comment spam. It is designed to prevent all forms of automated comments. For more information on spamkarma see http://unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-karma/

Bad Behavior: Bad behavior is a set of PHP scripts that prevents spam comments. It acts as a gatekeeper and blocks spam bots from accessing the pages of your blog. For more information about Bad Behavior see http://www.bad-behavior.ioerror.us/

In addition to using these plugins, I would also recommend using a captcha along with the comment box. This will ensure that only humans can post comments. However, there are some bots which can read the characters of the catcha. If you use any of the plugins I mentioned above, a captcha will not be required.

There is a plugin called reCAPTCHA that does a good job. Check it out @ http://recaptcha.net/plugins/wordpress/ Use it and I am sure you will stay spam free :)

Who Wins in the Battle Between Wordpress and Blogger

Wordpress and Blogger are the two dominant internet blogging systems. So it’s only natural that there be heated debates over which one is better.

When people want to create a blog they basically have a choice between Wordpress or Blogger.  And often times because they don’t want to waste any time figuring out which one is better, they just go with the one that they found out about first or heard about somebody else using.  But as they go around looking at other blogs they start seeing and hearing about other people using the “other” blogging software and start to wonder why they choose that service.

If your creating your blog for business purposes it’s especially essential that you understand the advantages and disadvantages between the two.

Blogger….

Advantages

• You can put Google Adsense into your blogs.
• You can promote anything that you want, any way that you want, as long as it’s not illegal or against there rules and regulations
• It’s free!

Disadvantages

• Unless you have your own blog template or know how to design one your not going to get a top notch looking blog.
• Adsense and other ads add a lot of clutter to pages and this can turn off visitors to your blog.
• Very basic software that you can’t do much with unless you have advanced blogging technical knowledge.

Wordpress

Advantages

• Has great templates to choose from so even if you don’t know much about designing blog you can still make a nice looking one.
• Very User Friendly
• Excellent for use on private domains
• It’s free

Disadvantages

• Your not supposed to advertise products using wordpress, but they will allow you to advertise a few links if you don’t over do it.
• You can’t personalize your blog to much unless you have your own hosting and domain.

And the winner is…. Wordpress!!

With the exception of adwords, Wordpress offers everything that blogger has and more.  And if you really want to have ads on your blog you can join some ad networks.

Wordpress: the Next Best Thing to Sliced Bread

It seems that if you don’t have a website presence these days, you are behind the times. The Internet is a useful tool to grow an online enterprise or two and to draw attention to your brick and mortar business. Along those same lines is the variety of tools available for creating that website presence.

It is hard to know which tool to use especially if the person has no technical knowledge to speak of. Understanding website and coding jargon requires a semester long course for most of us to get our heads around the concepts. With that in mind, many of these technical people have made it easy for the rest of us to enjoy existence in cyberspace. They take care of the technical side and offer us the chance to set up websites the easy way.

One such tool is WordPress. WordPress has gained a huge following since its inception. It is a popular blogging tool that offers open-space software for anyone who wants to begin a blog.

The software is free to install and use. Many businesses use WordPress as a platform for a blog to accompany their website. It is easy to integrate because it has only a few requirements to get started. These requirements are met by most web hosting sites anyway.

Besides its popular use as a blogging platform, users have discovered that WordPress can be used as website design software as well. With a variety of free themes to fit almost any need, this software can create a simple or quite complex website. It’s your choice.

Use WordPress to create a review site. The reviews could be about your products, afiliate products or jus about anything you want. Set up a category for each type of review you intend to publish on the site.

Keep content fresh and up-to-date so viewers will stay interested. Include pictures of the items, videos of items being used, and video clips if you plan to review movies. Adding more plug-in features and changing the theme every once in a while enhances the feel of the site.

Creating a blog or website offers distinct advantages to businesses. Whether you are just starting out or looking for new solutions to grow the business, WordPress is there to meet the need.

People are looking for information and solutions. Blogs, blog-like websites, and RSS feeds speed up the obtaining of this information. With each, content needs to be kept new and fresh to keep the attention of the customer and other viewers. A stagnant blog or website is dead and wasting your time.

With WordPress, it is easy to make updates to content, change themes, and manage the entire thing with little effort. Changing a theme doesn’t mean configuring the entire site. As often as you need a fresh look, go for it and see instant results.
