SEO Web Design – Search Engine Optimization In A Nutshell
Many articles and books have been written about search engine optimization experts and nonexperts alike. And there are many discussions on the various techniques of how to optimize web sites so as to increase traffic. But my purpose here is to explain what I believe are the important basic concepts you should know.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Is defined as the process of increasing traffic (the number of visitors) to a website. The higher a website ranks of the more likely it is visited by someone. As you know when you go to Google and search for something that generally the first page that appears, and possibly the second page before you find something. Thus, when sorting a website is essential for directing more traffic. SEO helps to ensure that a site is easily accessible to a search engine.
But what is a "search engine"? A search engine is a program that searches documents on the web (pages) for specified keywords and key phrases and returns a list of websites where they found the keywords and phrases. Google would be a good example.
In general, how does a search engine is sending a "spider" to retrieve as many websites as possible. Then, an "indexer" reads this website and creates a catalog based on the words contained in each website. Each search engine uses a proprietary algorithm so as to show concrete results.
A "spider" or "Webcrawler" as sometimes called, is a program that automatically retrieves web pages and are used to send these pages to search engines. This is called a spider because it crawls over the web. Because most web pages contain links to other web pages, a spider can start almost anywhere. As soon as he "sees" a link to another page, and will capture it.
You're probably asking: How can I get my site included in search engine queries?
A search engine finds information by accepting from lists submitted by the authors (the site owners) who want the exposure, or to receive information from "web crawlers, spiders or" bots ", programs that roam the Internet and store information about each page viewed.
Usually start with a list of categorized links, which are usually the most popular or the best websites, then follow the links to find more links and added to the database. Unfortunately this means that most search engines biased towards popular websites. The web crawler can return only the title and URL or send the entire page.
About keywords and key phrases in SEO
It is very important to have your keywords and key phrases aimed at the basic material of your website. Keyword phrases are important, but key may be of vital importance.
Here's why: Suppose you have a website all about classical music for children. Go to Google and type "music" (without the quotes) into the search area. You probably have on the outcome 1080000000 (as of this writing) with the above websites is in the first page or two. What do you think are your chances to be among them?
So the "music" as one of your keywords will not be a good option. It is too broad. But what if you had to make a more specific keyword phrase to your website by typing "music for children"? This time it has come about 188,000,000 listings. And then even more specific, "classical music for children", where he'll get about 45,700,000 listings. And finally, "Mozart for Children", which gave over 3,110,000 listings. So you see how this works? The more specific your keywords and phrases, be more specific results and their chances of getting targeted visitors to your website will increase. This is especially important if you are paying for these clicks as PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising.
About the SEO title tag
The most important area of your website is the title. The title is the title or label on the website. This is what you see on the top bar of your web browser like Internet Explorer, when a web page appears. Simple enough? You would think so, but in reality is not so simple.
Like many web pages make your web site? Each must have its own title. What should I put in a title? Well, for starters, you can see which keywords and keyphrases are most appropriate for what is on the website in particular. For example, returning to classical music website for children, we see that "Mozart for Children" was used as a key phrase, but wait, also has information about Beethoven, Bach, Chopin and Debussy.
Your first page or the index (home) page is where people are addressed first. This is where you will present yourself and your website. This is where you generalize about the offers of music by Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin and Debussy. So it would be logical to "Classical Music for Children" in your title tag and then if you have every page thereafter, more specific, such as "Mozart for Children", would make the title of that specific web page . So if you're one of those people who think "Welcome to my website" is a good title, think again!
Domain name in SEO
Equally important is your domain name. A domain name should also include a keyword of what your site is about. For example, you want to have a website on classical music for children. You've gathered all the information and written content for each page divided by the composers. Now is a conglomeration of information on classical music for children. You can choose "classicalmusicforchildren.com" as domain name, or "kidsclassicalmusic.com" or simply "classicalmusic4kids.com. The idea?
About Meta Tags in SEO
Meta Tags provide information about the document to the search engines to include your site in their indexes. Although Google ignores the meta tags, except perhaps for the description meta tag but other search engines use.
The two meta tags that search engines look for are the keywords meta tag and meta description tag. We have already touched on the keywords and description tag is basically a description of the key phrase in your website. You should only be 10-20 words describing the contents with the keyword, but rich should read intelligible to the user. Each search engine is different in how he looks at each site, however, the meta tag key has been abused by some webmasters, and you'll use unrelated words in order to attract more traffic. It's taking a very a chance because some search engines ban a website for "spam" with tons of highly related keywords. But if used wisely and in conjunction with other things on its website, specifically the content, then it is likely that the search engines will crawl your entire site.
On the content in SEO
Content is king. We can not stress this enough. What you say in your website and how you say it is very important for search engines. Keep it rich with keywords and key phrases, while making it easy to read and understand. Remember that only takes about 6-10 seconds to lose a visitor, so be brief and to the point.
The time it takes to get included in the database search engine is typically about 6-8 weeks. Nobody has control over the time this process takes. But what many people do not realize is that once a website is listed in a classified database, it will not be there for long if there are regular updates to the website. Search engines are very smart. They will control their databases to see if web sites still exist and to see if recently updated.
